    Riker Mounts & Frames:

You MUST know about these wonderfully easy and useful display items!
   
    Riker mounts were invented by some guy name'a Riker for his kid's butterfly collection but they are most excellent for SO much more. What they is, is, is well made press board boxes covered with black leatherette. The top is essentially a lid with a pane of glass glued in. There is a thick layer of white poly-fill to cushion and hold your collectable.  Two (or four) pins are inserted through the sides to secure it all safely.  

The real beauty of Riker Mounts is that you can take any old thing -or a not-so-old thing and in about 5 minutes, turn it into a valuable collectable item and display it with perfect grace.  Look what I did with some stuff out'a the top drawer in my kitchen!
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
    My Rikers also have a wooden frame so you can hang them on your wall with pride and safety.  I also include  two pieces of cardboard -of two different thicknesses to allow you to adjust the depth of the space to match your collectable item(s).  I even throw in some miscellany to make it easier for you to mount and display it.  Nail holes for both landscape and portrait formats are provided on the small items and a toothed hanger rail are provided for the bigger ones.
   
   
   
   
   
   
    How it All Works:
    #1  Choose between the contemporary style and the traditional.  The former shows a bit more black around the inside and fits flat against the wall.  The traditional frame is wider -shows a thinner black trim -and is  perhaps more suited to the larger frames.  It stands proud of the wall by about 1/2". 

Notice that the contemporary style (the smaller ones), has 2 simple nail holes -one to hang it in portrait and the other to hang it landscape (sideways).  The traditional style (the larger frames) also goes either way, but uses a little toothed rails to hang it just a little more securely..

.   #2  There are four choices of wood & finish. These include a clear pale maple, warm red mahogany, natural oak -a modern look, and old-fashioned dark oak.  You can certinly choose the look that most closely matches the furniture in your home, but there is much to be said for a little variety.

#3  Perhaps the final step is the most critical -figuring out how big a Riker you need.

And don't forget that they look as good -and work as well- on their side as they do upright, -landscape format as well as portrait.

Riker Mounts work beautifully on the wall, but If you wish to REALLY  make your collection look impressive, put it out on top of any convenient grand piano!  Or shelf, or mantle or what ever flat surface comes to hand.  With these easels, it's easeley done.  (Get it?  easily  - easeley !)  

Actually, they are shiny brass wire stands that fit under a Riker Mount unobtrusively and securely. While they are quite strong enough, they also bend so you can set the angle just the way you want it.  

I would suggest the small ones for Riker sizes A, B, and C -and the large ones for sizes D & E.

.   These are not quite a drawer case -but Rikers are so perfect that they don't necessarily need a drawer.  Simple, compact, efficient & handsome.  This case comes with six 8" x 10" Rikers -each with a little ribbon handle.  Order a couple of extras and you can display your very best pieces by simply hanging them on the wall with the ribbon handle.  Or rotate them in and out of the case and onto the wall as your fancy strikes you.

.   Here is the whole gang. 6 Rikers in a case and a 7th hanging on the wall.  

It is easy to go from the case to the wall. You just open a mount, and put the bottom part in one with a frame then tuck the ribbon under and hang it up.  The other one then goes back into the case.  No need to move your items.

.   HOW-TO use Riker Mounts.

The following describes the easiest possible way to showcase a single valuable collectable -or a bunch of small items -or a flat but not-so-small collectable, or any-dang-thing you are proud of.  Depending on what you want to display, it may be as simple as opening the mount, placing your collectable in it, and closing it up again  -steps 1 thru 5.  If the item is delicate or heavy, you might need to go to a little extra bother of tying it in place -steps 6 thru 9.

Step 1:

Gather up your stuff.

.   I have tried to send along everything you might need to mount yourself up a nice display, but, optional extras might include fabric for a color-coordinated background, scissors to cut it and tape to hold it down, almost any sort of tape, and a label!  I'm a big fan of labels. Often the only difference between some fool knick-knack and a real collectable item is a label.
