Display Case Doors:

If you start with a simple display case without the door and later decide that your collection needs to be protected behind glass, what are you gon'na do?  Simple -a few minutes with a drill and screw driver and you can add the same protective doors that come with the display cabinets sets.  I even send along the drill bit -(but you have to provide your own drill and screw driver.)

The frame is made from solid oak 3/4 inches thick and 1 1/2 inches wide.  The edges are eased with a simple and elegant 1/4 inch bevel.  The wood is finished with a warm-toned shellac and given a gentle paste waxing.  This makes for a wonderfully finger friendly and classic finish.

The 'window' is 1/8 inch acrylic and is set into a rabbit on the back of the frame.  It comes with the hinges screwed onto the door.  

You will need to mark and drill 8 holes into the case, and then drive small screws.  The screws are included as is a drill bit and complete instructions.

For those display cabinets that are wider then they are high, the doors open up or down and those that open down have the option of coming with a pair of chains to support the door in a horizontal position -like an old fashioned desk even.  The chains are attached to the door, but you will need to drill and drive two additional screws to the case.

The really big cases can have doors too, but you have to do it right.  The easiest way to do it right is to use two or more smaller cases.  For example, a 24 x 24 case can use two 12 x 24 and a 32 x 32 case can use two 16 x 32 doors.  If you have even bigger cases -drop me an email and perhaps we can come up with a good solution together.
