A Display Case or Drawer Set for Toys:

Toys are a fascinating category of collectables.  What is particularly interesting here is those toys we have forgot from our childhood and -when we come across one- the memories that come flooding back.  Is this what is meant by nostalgia?  Or self centeredness?  Did we baby boomers have to many toys?  Don't know, but it all makes for interesting ponderings.  Check out Danielle Arnet's thoughts on Why We Collect.

So what do you do to display and protect your toy collection?  The problem here is that toys is a pretty big category.  Is your collection Match-Box cars or Tonka Trucks?  Army-men or toy guns?  Or do you collect both big and little items?

Here is what I suggest. Have a look at Architectural Casework. for big and little display case.  This gives you the most flexibility in size and application.  It may require you to build it yourself, -sort of "tinker-toy" it all together as I like to say, but you had a Tinker-Toy set when you were you little didn't you?display cases

Or, for those items that you want to show-off, consider a Display Case.

Is your stuff really valuable -or just way too much fun so people tend to futz with it too much?  Put it in a display case with a Lock.

INTERESTING LINKS:

It appears that Hakes is to American collectors as Christies is to snooty British collectors.  Beautiful stuff and impressive site.

collectible toyRemember Girders and Panels?  Boys of a certain age, (old-ish) remember this particular soy.  Sort of Tinker Toys for older kids.  If Erector Sets were for engineers-to-be, Girders and Panels was for kids that grew up to be Architects. In any event consider Girder and Panel Collector's Club.  It has lots of other interesting stuff too.

For neat toys that are even older then I am

-have a look at the Tin Man's Tin Toy Site.

(I don'now on how old the Tin Man is.)

This site is not so much for collectors as it is for buying quality toys that will be collectible in a generation or two, but toys2buy.com has some excellent articles on the subject of toys, toy safety, buying toys, selecting the right toy, and just everything toy related.
